A Gastronomic Delight at Chez George, Paris
Whenever my travels lead me to Paris, my first stop is always Chez George – a culinary haven that never fails to surprise me. It has become a personal tradition, a must-visit spot that sets the tone for my time in the most beautiful city.
The food at Chez George is nothing short of extraordinary. It's a culinary journey through the heart of French cuisine, where every dish is a carefully crafted masterpiece. From classic favorites to unique specialties, each bite reveals a depth of flavor that showcases the chef's expertise.

A visit to Paris wouldn't be complete without savoring the culinary delights at Chez George, where tradition, taste, and a touch of celebrity come together in perfect harmony
I miss this place so so so much. Until next trip..
Small traditional French brasserie placed in the 2nd. Weekends are closed so you better rush and book specially on Friday nights. Meat is well done. The starters are slightly heavy but very tasty. Goose pate was great and so was their lamb chops beautifully displayed. But my favourite from this place is their aprofiteroles with ice cream inside. You can ask for an additional dark chocolate sauce. Do save some space for desert.
The best meal we have had in Paris. We travel to Paris frequently with this being our first time dining at Chez Georges. I was able to secure a 7:30pm reservation via email in advance. Reservations are a must unless perhaps you are a local regular - of which there appeared to be many based on the warm and personalized welcome many patrons received from the staff as if old friends.
Atmosphere: 10/10. The restaurant is cozy and narrow with tables literally touching one another, allowing capacity seating as it was full by the time our mains arrived to the table. Staff must pull the table entirely away from the built in banquet seating so you can squeeze in to sit. So cozy there is no room for your coat or bag which you can either leave at the front on a rack or put behind you on the banquet ledge. This only adds to the charm. Lighting was low level and perfectly suited for a magical mood on a rainy January 4th evening!.
FOOD 11/10: The menu is quite large and includes bistro classics but also dishes we have not seen on other menus (grilled veal kidneys in cream sauce). Loved that seemingly handwritten in the left margin of the menu there are wine pairing suggestions for most Dishes.
We started with the chicken liver terrine which was divine- especially paired with the local bread (shamelessly we ate a whole basket worth). Staff kept the Beaujolais flowing as we moved to our mains. My husband ordered the medium rare perfectly cooked Lamb Chop Cutlets served with freshly seasoned green beans while I ordered the house specialty Coeur de Filet de Boeuf Bearnaise served with crispy fries. My generously sized grilled beef filet was prepared medium rare with the most flavorful seasoning which only enhanced the flavor of the filet when paired with the rich and thick Bearnaise sauce. My husband's lamb was tender and flavorful. Again- Beaujolais was a flowin’.
We ended the evening with that night’s dessert special of rice pudding in caramel sauce. It was so insanely good that we continue to discuss wishing we could have it back home in Indiana which sadly we cannot.
SERVICE 10/10: Attentive, thoughtful, professional, and seemingly having a good sense of humor with a dash of patience as I engaged en français with limited ability when ordering and chatting. Prices are 100% on point,. The evening ended with La Bise /air kisses on each cheek by the wonderfully charismatic Maître ‘d /Owner at the front. Clearly a favorite among the locals who seemed to be undoubtedly the majority of the patrons- always a good sign!
We will absolutely dine here again on our next visit. Cannot recommend enough! Thank you for a much needed magical culinary evening!
Little secret away from big boulevards, in the real Paris! I loved it!
The food is the best and typical real French gastronomie you can have. The service is the best! For the real French experience you'll have the time of your life. I'll be back for sure
Excellent traditional French restaurant. Intimate size, very friendly service and delicious food. I had the lamb chops and highly recommend.
Such a quaint lunch spot. We snagged a 12:30 reservation on a Monday and the place quickly filled up. Delightful salads and plats. Would definitely return!
This is my second visit in as many years. Our lunch was great and the service was outstanding. Great food choice recommendations and staff fluent in English. A great French dining experience.
Amazing experience coming here and it's, without a doubt, one of my favorite classic French restaurants. The salad was amazing and that steak tastes as good as it looks. Service was a standout.
